Home » ConsanoBio (sciatica) study
Sciatica occurs when nerves in the lower spine become irritated or compressed, often causing pain that travels from the lower back down one leg.
Symptoms may include pain, tingling, numbness, or muscle weakness. Sciatica can affect comfort, movement, sleep, and day-to-day activities.
This clinical trial is designed to help researchers better understand investigational approaches being studied in people living with sciatica.
The investigational study product is administered as a single image-guided injection into the lower back near the affected nerve area.
Participants are randomly assigned to receive either the investigational study product or placebo, helping researchers compare study outcomes over time.
Participants attend regular study visits over approximately 24 weeks so the research team can monitor health and study-related outcomes.
Participation may help researchers better understand sciatica and contribute to future clinical research in this area.

No. If you are enrolled in this study, you have a:
All participants are monitored by qualified healthcare professionals throughout the study.
If you are eligible and choose to join the study, your participation will follow a structured plan with regular monitoring over approximately 30 weeks.
Screening assessment
You will first attend a screening visit involving:
Attending a screening visit does not commit you to participation.
Study treatment assignment
You will be randomly assigned to receive either the investigational study product or placebo as a single image-guided injection. You remain at the clinic for observation following the procedure.
Follow-up visits
Participants attend scheduled follow-up visits over approximately 24 weeks, including:
A telephone follow-up also occurs shortly after treatment.
Wearable monitoring and symptom diary
Participants may be asked to use a wearable monitoring device during parts of the study and complete a brief electronic diary to record symptoms and medication use.
No cost to participate
There is no cost to participate in the study. Study-related visits, procedures, assessments, and study materials are provided at no cost. Reimbursement for study-related out-of-pocket expenses is also available. Please ask the study team for further information.
If you are eligible and choose to join the study, your care will follow a structured plan with regular monitoring over approximately 30 weeks.
Everyone has their own reasons for participating in clinical research. Common reasons include:

Supporting medical research that may improve future care for others living with chronic sciatica pain

Contributing to a better understanding of how nerve inflammation responds to new therapies over time

Accessing structured clinical monitoring of your pain, neurological function, and overall health within a dedicated research setting
Participation is voluntary. You are free to decide whether or not to take part, and you may withdraw from the study at any time without affecting your usual medical care.
Your safety is the priority throughout this clinical trial.
